17 artists received the bavarian art challenge awards 2019 in munich from the hands of minister president markus soder and art minister bernd sibler. At the ceremony in the cuvillies theater, which was musically framed by prize winners, art minister bernd sibler congratulated the artists and emphasized: "art and culture are a measure of freedom in a democracy: art can be harmonious, pleasing or disturbing, but it can also be provocative, disturbing, offensive, uncomfortable, wild or unreasonable. This is invaluable for our social discourse. It is the young artists who are helping to initiate this dialogue and are playing a decisive role in shaping the future of our cultural life."
The bavarian art challenge prize is awarded in the four categories of "fine arts" and "visual arts", "performing arts", "music and dance as well as "literature awarded. The awardees live in bavaria, have their center of creativity here and are at most 40 years old. In addition, they have completed their education, possess a remarkable artistic talent and have already distinguished themselves through outstanding achievements. Among the prize winners in the fine arts category is jonas troger from baiersdorf.
